North Yorkshire Scouts are looking for a volunteer with management experience who wants to do more in their community, with good inter-personal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others. As County Commissioner for North Yorkshire Scouts the volunteer would be responsible for leading the Scout County, ensuring that we provide good quality Scouting for Young People. An open letter has been addressed to all members asking for their input to the search.
A new event for all those adventurous open canoeists.
A brand new event paddling in the the beautiful setting of Loch Ken in the Scottish Borders.
We meet up at Ellerton on Friday night, after an early breakfast on Saturday morning we are then transported to the Loch meaning that we then get two good days paddling with an overnight at a local campsite before returning home on Sunday evening.
Over a thousand Cubs and Leaders from around the County have been taking part in the 2012 Diamond Challenge. There are sixty tasks, split between the four seasons of the year. We'll soon be entering the Summer term and for those Packs taking part, the summer tasks have been communicated this week. Here's an update on what's been happening so far.
290 beavers from across the county attended the 2012 Beaver “Sportathon” held at York University. They were able to sample a selection of different sports ranging from the traditional; football, hockey, orienteering, athletics and crazy golf to karate, fencing, goal ball ( a game played by blind people) skipping, ultimate frisbee and circuit training.
This November, Liam Cutler from 1st Northallerton Explorers travelled down to Winchester to participate in Scouts Question Time. The event aimed to encourage scouts to play an active role in politics and the community and stand up for their rights as young people.

Congratulations to the 1st Huntington Apollo Cub Pack from York Minster District who recently had seven Cubs complete the Chief Scout Silver Award.
