Description

 

This Event is only open to registered members of the Scout Association and Girlguiding UK, however priority is given to members of Scouting in North Yorkshire.   

 

Cost: £31 book 8 weeks in advance and pay £30 for members of North Yorkshire Scouts   £35 for Girlguiding UK and other Scouts.

 

 Cheques should be made payable to: NYCSC Water Activities Team

Payment is required with the booking form - please send a separate cheque for each event booked.

 

Details:

This is a one day event.

There will be a basic training to introduce participants to the skills required to paddle white water. This is intended for those with little or no experience of paddling on fast moving / white water and will cover the basic techniques and preparation, moving on to more advanced skills depending on the abilities of participants.

There will be the oppotunity for more advanced training and assessment for 3 Star for those with the skills / ability.

All participants must be competent swimmers and come prepared for very cold conditions.

All participants must have BCU 2 Star or PaddlePower Discover.

 

 

 

Participants will need to have  westsuits and dry cags, it will be cold and wet. If you do not have access to a wetsuit or dry cag it is possible to borrow one from the Activities Team. Please enclose a note with your booking application form. Do not forget you will need a towel to get dry. If you wish to borrow a wetsuit please indicate on your booking form and ensure you bring a swimming costume to wear under the wetsuit and thermals  fleece etc. for your upper body.

All Paddling equipment will be provided, boat, paddle, helmet, buoyancy aid. If you have your own equipment you may use it providing tat boats have been tested to B3 standard and buoyancy aids have been tested by the county boat / equipment tester prior to the course.

 

 

Booking:

Places are limited per course and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

 

All cancellations will incur a charge of £2.50 for administration and no refunds will be given for cancellations within the week prior to an event or for non attendance, except in exceptional circumstances.

 

Complete the appropriate Booking Form, please make sure all boxes are completed.

 

Make sure your booking form is signed by your Section Leader and Parent or Guardian.

 

Please use a separate form for each course and applicant.

 

Your fee and a stamped addressed envelope (one for each event you apply for must accompany your form).

 

If your Troop / Unit wishes to attend together, please attach all your forms together and send one stamped addressed envelope for each course. Make sure you have put sufficient postage on your envelope (any over charges will be billed back to you).

 

Booking Forms:

All bookings close one month before the event.

icon Youth Booking Form - to be used by anyone under 18 years of age.

 

The booking forms are .pdf format and can be filled in on a PC. Simply save the booking form to your hard drive. Then open the form and click in the box next to 'Title' and type, move to the next box by hitting the 'tab' key on your keyboard. Once you have completed the form you can then print it off for signing before posting to the address below.

Please send bookings for water events (inc mixed activity events), climbing events, caving events, etc. in separate envelopes.
