Event will be at: St Andrews Centre, Conistone, Lake District.

This Event is only open to registered members of the Scout Association and Girlguiding UK, however priority is given to members of Scouting in North Yorkshire

Cost: £50 includes full board and instruction.

Details:

To introduce and practice techniques and principles in leading activities outdoors as well as navigation skills, group management and gain hill walking experience in a challenging environment. We will also look at steep ground security for terrain 2. Anybody who is thinking of taking their Troop outdoors or applying for a hill walking authorisation but is unsure of their abilities, are strongly encouraged to attend.

For Leaders and Network, this will be an ideal training opportunity to gain new insights in to navigation and be introduced to hill / mountain walking skills. For those who have attended a previous course in the Dales, it is an opportunity to practice in a more complex area. The weekend will also allow you to polish personal skills and exchange ideas with other leaders and the instructors.

The course will be accountable against the Adult Training Programme.

Course is residential from 20:00 on Friday to 17:00 Sunday.

Participants do not need to have any experience of navigation or hill walking.

The weekend will be a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions with a full days walking on Sunday in the North Western Lake District.

Participants will require clothing for the weekend and a sleeping bag. A 45 litre rucksack, walking boots, waterproof clothing and clothes to walk in will be needed. Ropes and helmets will be provided if required. If participants wish to bring their own, they may but the suitability of equipment will be checked by the course director. All meals will be provided and participants are to bring a lunch box and flask / water bottle.

 Adult Booking Form - to be used by anyone 18 years of age or over.

 Youth Booking Form - to be used by anyone under 18 years of age.

The booking forms are .pdf format and can be filled in on a PC. Simply save the booking form to your hard drive. Then open the form and click in the box next to 'Title' and type, move to the next box by hitting the 'tab' key on your keyboard. Once you have completed the form you can then print it off for signing before posting to the address below.
