"Following recommendations by the County Appointments Advisory Committee, I am pleased to announce TWO new County Appointments.
CARL GIBSON, currently the Group Scout Leader at 1st Staynor Hall Scout Group and District Explorer Scout Leader will take over as District Commissioner Selby & District in January when Julie Farley steps down after some 10 years in the role.
Also next month, JON RICHARDS, currently County Media Manager and an Assistant District Commissioner in Ryedale District, will take over from Alison Martin as our Assistant County Commissioner (International). In the New Year, dates will be confirmed.
Both Carl and Jon will begin their new Scouting responsibilities at a difficult time for us all, but with your support I am sure that they will bring a new focus to Selby & District and to International Adventures.
Having served 10 years as a District Commissioner, Julie Farley has my admiration and sincere appreciation for all that she has achieved and I am delighted that she will continue in Scouting in the years ahead.
I am also grateful to Alison Martin for all that she has achieved in her role and especially in the last 2 years with a World Scout Jamboree and then the challenges of the now cancelled European Jamboree.
Finally, as we end this incredibly difficult year, my thanks to you all for your support throughout 2020 and especially for what you have delivered for our young members and leaders.
Happy New Year and I hope we can all enjoy a better 2021."
