Peter Crook honoured with an RYA Community Award
This from David Wilkinson, our ACC Water Activities:
"On Friday 22nd November 2019, Peter Crook was awarded a lifetime commitment award by HRH Princess Anne as President of the Royal Yachting Association.
Peter has been involved with the Water Activities Team at Ellerton Park Scout Water Activity Centre for over 30 years.
Serving on the committee, he has developed the sailing from an ad hoc delivery basis to achieving Recognised Training Centre status and the fleet from wooden boats through to contemporary craft.
ln addition to running the normal sailing programme, he has also been a key individual in organising sailing and windsurfing activities for a number of other scouting events, most notably for the Scout European Jamboree in 2005 and the World Jamboree in 2007 in which 500 participants sailed each day. He is an Assessor for the Scout Association Permit Scheme, which trains leaders who are taking young people on adventurous activities, including sailing.
Peter is a family man and has a job which involves a lot of travelling, yet he still manages to find the time to dedicate to sailing activities, ensuring that all resources, human and physical, are in place. This remarkable effort clearly demonstrates his passion, dedication and commitment to the sport."
Well done Peter, from us ALL!
