This from Ian Powell, the District Secretary of Selby and District:
"It is with much sadness that I must inform you that Eric Postles, the District President and former D.C. passed away peacefully in his sleep. His family were with him at the time."
Eric Postles served Scouting for 52 years, was a former District Commissioner for Scouts for 21 years, and, more latterly, served as District President for many years in the Selby District.
A lot of people in the County will have know Eric over time and, I'm sure, all will mourn his passing.
Eric first became involved in Scouting in Birmingham when he formed a Cub Scout Pack with 36 members, having joined the Scout Movement as an eight-year-old Cub. He later became Group Scout Leader of that same Scout Group before moving further north to Selby with his work.
In 2016 he was awarded the 50 year's Service Award and had previously been honoured by the Chief Scout by being presented with the Silver Wolf, the highest adult award in Scouting.
Eric’s funeral took place at midday on Tuesday 17 April at St Wilfrid’s Church, Brayton, Selby, and a Scouting Guard of Honour paid their tribute to Eric.
We are ALL thinking of Eric and his family at this sad time.
