This from John Ives:
"The 2018 event was attended by approximately 2000 young people and leaders from the two Scout Districts of York Ebor and York Minster and the Guide County of North Yorkshire South.
For the first time for a number of years the Minster at YORK was full to overflowing with all the chairs used, people standing and members of the public unable to enter.
The service was led by the young people assisted by Rev Francis Loftus and the lesson read by Rachael Maskell MP for York Central (a former Venture Scout and Beaver Leader).
The salute was taken by the York Civic Party, the Chairman of North Yorkshire County Council the Scout County Chairman the District Commissioners and Guide representatives.
The procession from and to the Eye of York was led by five bands including St Chad's Greys Scout Band, the Selby and York Scout and Guide Band, the Yorkshire Volunteer band, and bands from the ATC and Church Lads/Girls Brigade."
Thanks, John, for this report - YORK (as ever) 'showing the flag' for Scouting (and Guiding)
