A JOINT girl guiding and scouting event has taken place at Ampleforth College. The 58 Beavers, Rainbows, Brownies, and Cubs, along with helpers and leaders, met at the college’s orchard where they got the opportunity to pick their own apples from the trees and turn them into apple juice.

Francesca Evans (who is the Beaver Scout Leader for 1st Helmsley), one of the organisers, said: “In this landmark event, Girlguiding and The Scout Association joined forces to organise a fun and exciting evening, integrating both organisations, offering the opportunity to work together, and share experiences while learning new skills. Joint meetings are not something that has been done within recent years in Helmsley and we are keen to integrate the two organisations for special meetings and events. The success of this event shows the true power of collaboration by two of the largest youth organisations in the UK, and by working together helps young people to achieve and learn more, and flourish within their Guiding and Scouting journeys.”

Well done Ryedale - you know what they say - an apple a day............................!!
