Margaret Gaygan stands down from the Active Support Team annually organising the York Districts' St. George's Day Parade and Service
John Ives, York Active Support Manager, writes:
"Margaret has been an integral part of the Active Support team for over ten years, joining originally as the Guide County Secretary. Her roles, each year, include liaising with the Minster clergy and the visiting clergy to determine the theme of the service, and over time developing this into the detailed Order of Service - liaising with the various invited guests both from within Scouting and Guiding and also within the City of York and North Yorkshire, - organising the rehearsals within the Minster - and numerous other ancillary duties.
Margaret has decided to step down from the organising team after this year’s event and so it seems fitting that the Scout County Commissioner, Mark Edwards, has awarded her a County Commissioner’s Commendation for all this past work. The Award was presented to her immediately after this year's event by Eric Fell, one of the Scout County's Vice-Presidents (on behalf of the C.C.) and done in the presence of Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor of York, the Chairman of the County Council and several other invited guests from both Scouting & Guiding and the local Community,
On behalf of the Two York Districts, and the Guide County of North Yorkshire (South), I would like to express the sincere thanks and appreciation for Margaret's outstanding service and commitment to this annual event, reputed to be the 'largest' of its kind in the whole Country!"
"Well Done" Margaret from all of us in Scouting, and "Thank-You" for all that you have done.
