19AW014C TRY BELLBOATING (Boroughbridge)

Start time: Sessions during the day, each lasting approximately 1 ¼ hours
Session times: 11.30am, 1.00pm. Further sessions will be added  once these have filled up.

Please arrive 15minutes before your session is due to start.

Introduction description:

This day gives Cubs. Brownies and Scouts the opportunity to have a go at Bellboating. A Bellboat is a large stable catamaran type craft, approx 9m long which offers an ideal introduction to paddlesport. Each boat takes 10 cubs or scouts and is steered by an experienced helm. Each session, which lasts about 1 ¼ hours includes a journey.

Cubs who take part will have covered some of requirements of the Cub Outdoor Challenge Award.
Scouts can use the event as one of the activities for the Adventure Challenge Award.

Main Course Information:

All Activity Equipment will be provided

The aim of this event is to have an enjoyable time on the water, possibly for the first time. It is not the intention to get wet, however all Cubs and Scouts should bring at least one set of clothing to get wet in ( clothes made of synthetic materials or thermals are best) and a pair of old trainers to wear along with a set of waterproofs ( jacket and trousers) to keep the wind off.
Any person wearing jeans or wellingtons to go on the water will not be allowed to undertake this activity.
